Foot reflexology, also known as zone therapy, is a great modality for assisting healing.
There are energy channels that flow through the body, passing through the different areas and organs of the body, ending at the feet (and hands, if doing hand reflexology).
Different areas of the foot correspond with certain areas or organs of the body, therefore when pressure is applied to the foot with the ball of the thumb to these areas, it can instigate a healing effect on that organ or area.
You may become aware, that when pressure is applied to a certain spot on the foot, it may feel similar to a stone bruise feeling. This can be an indication that the organ or area that is associated with that particular spot may have an energy blockage that is causing it to be functioning sub-optimally. Applying moderate pressure for a short time to the affected spot can help move the energy blockage and stimulate healing of the associated area or organ.
Having no tender spots can be an indication that your general over-all health may not be too bad. However, benefit can still be gained from moderate pressure application, using the balls of the thumbs, to the entire surface of both feet, working systematically from the heel to the end of each toe, to enhance optimal energy flow and vitality throughout the body.
You can utilise the reflexology foot zone map to work on certain areas or organs, or to know what your tender spots may be indicating within your body.
